Changes

As you may have discovered, I’ve not been around the blog world for the past month and that’s because I’ve been preparing for an exciting new launch. Now, the big part is not finished but you can get all of my sneak peeks over on my new Facebook page. Stay tuned for a post when the big project is completed!

Sarah and Steve | Chicago Wedding Photographer

This was my favorite wedding we did this year and the couple was my favorite too! So, where can I start about Sarah and Steve? They are such laid back people and it was reflected at their wedding. And there’s nothing better than having our couple trust us completely to do our job! I’m pretty sure Sarah hardly left the dance floor that night and she even encouraged us to dance with her. And yes, there is proof that both of us did! :) Sarah and Steve earned brownie points from me for putting my name on my seating card rather than “assistant” or “photographer 2.” :)

Sarah and Steve are also now friends of mine and I’m so glad I’ve gotten to know them, the family and some of their friends. :) Can’t wait for more fun times ahead!

As always, check out Kara Schultz!

What it Means to Me…

I’ve been planning this post in my head for over a week now. Because this week, I’m celebrating. I’m celebrating because it has been 6 months since I took a serious leap of faith, scared out of my mind of failing, and moved to Chicago. I’m celebrating because the past 6 months of my life has been a wild and crazy ride of wonderful that I would never change, not even for a minute. I’m celebrating because I learned how to have faith in myself and be confident in my decisions. I’m celebrating because it taught me how to ask for something I want (even if it’s just a nice family to hang out with on Thanksgiving). The most important reason I’m celebrating is because I have had an opportunity to figure out who I am, what I stand for and exactly what I want out of my life. Because sometimes you need to step away from it all and be alone with your thoughts in order to figure things out. I have, by no means, figured out what it’s all about. If you have, let’s chat! :)

I’ve learned how to be comfortable expressing my opinions when people are treating me badly. I’ve learned how to ignore people when it’s necessary. I’ve learned how to be a little bit more bold and introduce myself to strangers. Hey, you kind of have to if you’ve moved to a new place and don’t know that many people! I’ve learned how to be comfortable being by myself and not letting negative thoughts consume me.

AND I’m happy. And if this photo doesn’t say it all, then I don’t know how else to convince you! Photo by Kara Schultz

101 in 1001 Update

And just so you know, it’s been changed to Short Term Goals. Simply because , I didn’t really know what I wanted when I wrote that list. It just sounded good! Don’t get me wrong, I still have plenty of things I want to accomplish. But someone I have a tremendous amount of respect for reminded me of something so important, I’ve forgotten how far I’ve come. Baby steps are what’s important! And actually going after what you want, whether big or small. Thank you Shannon, for that oh so important reminder! :) And keep reminding me!

So, read the list! Some of it is the same…a lot has been taken out, a couple of things have been added! :)

Erin & Ted | The Party | Chicago Wedding Photographer

The party where Erin took food off the server’s tray, the father/daughter dance turned into a family dance, and grandma rocked the dance floor…

The wedding that included mocking a peacock, polars bears showing off, and lions coming at the bridal party…

What I’m Loving

Something that I’m loving right now: FALL. The colors are simply amazing, the weather has been shockingly warm and it has been absolutely gorgeous! And this photo, well, it’s the background of a photo shoot I did a few weeks ago for the special project I’m working on! The reveal is going to be simply amazing!
